Faculty Affairs Committee (FAC): To represent the CAPS and GS faculty in order to establish committees to carry out programs to benefit the faculty and students and to assure that the academic, values and faith-based perspectives of Bethel University as well as CAPS and GS are met. Consider strategic opportunities available to CAPS and GS and promote those opportunities in consultation with the Provost and Deansdeans. Provide counsel to the Associate Provost on items pertaining to the advancement of CAPS and GS including but not limited to: advertising, admissions, enrollment, academic standards and graduation of students.
Academic Quality Council (AQC): Create, revise and review academic policies related to CAPS and GS. Further, the Council reviews and gives academic approval to programs and courses.
Academic Assessment Committee: In conjunction with, and in service to, the Associate Provost provides expertise, advice, and assistance by reviewing curriculum and instruction related program assessments, developing and articulating university and CAPS and GS expectations and policies regarding academic assessment, ensuring a comprehensive and coordinated academic assessment plan for curriculum development and faculty development programming.
Appeals: The CAPS and GS Appeals Committee responds to appeals made by students if they are not satisfied with Bethel policy as it relates to their situation. Once this committee makes its determination, the student may accept the response or appeal to the Associate Provost.
CAPS and GS Appointment, Reappointment, Promotion and Tenure (ARPT): Evaluates the performance of full-time faculty members eligible for reappointment, promotion, and tenure and submits appropriate recommendations to the Divisional Dean divisional dean responsible for hiring. A subset of the committee interviews candidates for initial appointment to the faculty and submits recommendations to the Divisional Dean divisional dean responsible for hiring.
