Beginning July 2022, Google started limiting the total storage that’s available to the University. Previously Google had allowed free unlimited storage for our community. Bethel has been given an extension for compliance through November of 2022. Compliance is required by November 2022 or your account may be deleted!

In July, Google started to enforce new storage limits. We have been granted an extension on compliance through November 2022. Beginning then, Bethel Google accounts will have a storage limit of 15GB for Students/Alumni and 100GB for employees and department accounts for all data in Google Drive, Gmail, and Google Photos.

  1. To review how much storage you use and delete large or unnecessary files in Drive, go to Drive Storage
  2. To review and delete large or unnecessary files in shared drives, go to shared drives.
  3. To search for and delete large or unnecessary emails, follow the instructions for Gmail in Manage files in your Google Drive storage.
  4. Using an external hard drive to pull files off your Google Drive is also a good option. You can also use Google takeout to download your Google data for a backup if you need to delete large portions but aren't fully sure what might be needed. 
  5. Students and Alumni who would like to transfer content to a personal gmail account, please follow these instructions.
