Bulk uploading assignment feedback files, comments and grades

Moodle Assignments now support bulk uploading of assignment response files (contain comments & tracked changes). You can also upload grades and general comments using an excel spreadsheet that can be downloaded from the Assignment.
Bulk uploading assignment feedback files can save you a lot of time, as you can upload them in one step, rather than one-by-one as you used to have to do.

Make sure the bulk upload settings are enabled
- Check the Moodle Assignment settings, feedback comments, offline grading worksheet and feedback files are selected. Note: to access the settings click on the assignment and use the Settings block and Assignment Settings -> Edit settings.
To download all the submissions and the grading worksheet
- Click on the assignment name on the Moodle course homepage to access the summary page and click View/grade all submissions.
- From the Grading action drop-down menu choose: Download all submissions
- Unzip the submissions to a convenient location on your computer. It is recommended you unzip to a new folder, so all the feedback files are kept together and can be easily selected and zipped back together later.
- Double clicking on the downloaded file should launch the unzipping software. Follow the prompts to extract the individual assignments from the zip file.
- From the Grading action drop-down menu choose: Download grading worksheet and save this to a convenient place on your computer.
- Open each assignment and use track changes, comments or other annotating tools available in Word, PDF or whichever type of document it is you are marking. Save your changes.
- Open the csv file in Excel, or a similar spreadsheet editor. Enter grades in the Grade column and comments in the Feedback comments column for each student.
To bulk upload feedback files
- Click on the assignment name on the Moodle course homepage to access the summary page and click View/grade all submissions.
- From the Grading action drop-down menu choose: Upload multiple feedback files in a zip
- Locate the folder containing the feedback files in Moodle, select them all (Ctrl+A within the folder), then zip them:## On Windows: Right click one of the selected files and Send to > Compressed (zipped) folder## On Mac: Right Click (or Ctrl+click) one of the selected files and click Compress
- Click Choose a file... and upload the zipped assignments file to Moodle, or drag the zip file to the arrow and wait for the file name to appear in the box.
- Click Import feedback file(s).
- The Confirmation box will list all the feedback files and student names that will be imported.
- Click Confirm.
- The next screen will summarise how many students have been given feedback, how many students with existing feedback files have had their feedback file updated and how many new feedback files were added.
- Click Continue.
To bulk upload general comments and grades from the grading worksheet
- Click on the assignment name on the Moodle course homepage to access the summary page and click View/grade all submissions.
- From the Grading action drop-down menu choose: Upload grading worksheet
- Click Choose a file... and upload the grading worksheet to Moodle, or drag the csv file to the arrow and wait for the file name to appear in the box.
- Click Upload grading worksheet.
- The Confirmation box will list all the students grades that will be imported.
- Click Confirm.
- The next screen will summarise how many student grades have been updated.
- Click Continue.
