Students can use DARK Pen, Pencil, or Marker on the test form as long as the response is DARK (not yellow or light grey etc.). Please request that your students completely fill in the correct oval for both answers and name/id/po fields as needed. If they use a pen then they need to X out the incorrect answer or answers (if they then re-change their mind, have them put the letter of the correct choice to the LEFT of the question number). PLEASE also ask students to NOT make any other marks on the front of the test form, including lines or writing, although writing a letter of correct answer to the left of the question number is okay to clarify crossouts or corrections.
Step 3: Scan your completed exams using one of the multi-function printer/scanners to scan and submit your tests for optical scan grading. This is now the preferred process. This means that your tests will never leave your hands, increasing test security as well as improving the efficiency of the test scanning process.
Find the multi-function device closest to your office.
- Log in to the multi-function machine with your ID.
- Write the instructor name in the name fields on the key, place the KEY on TOP of the answer sheet stack.
- Place the tests in the Automatic feeder, PRINT SIDE UP, ALWAYS keeping the tests so the are in "upright read mode" = form is readable as you are facing the copy machine and NOT sideways to you. For landscape forms change the width of the feeder to 8.5 inches. For portrait forms leave the feeder width at 11 inches.
- Select the Scan and Send option
- Click "send to myself" (If you scan in the library: Click "send to me" OR click address book, select the T tab and select Test Scan)
- Click the Green Start button--- and the tests should scan
- Return to your office, open your email and review the PDF scan file to make sure that it is complete' clear, and upright.
- Forward the scanned file to test-scanning@bethel.edu, and change the subject of the email to your last name and course number.
- Hold on to the test forms until you get your results.
