Any injuries that occur at work, regardless of severity, must be reported to the Office of Human Resources immediately of People and Culture immediately by completing a First Report of Injury Form (must be turned into HR into People and Culture within 24 hours of the injury if at all possible). All Bethel employees are covered by Workers' Compensation Insurance in case of any injury due to an accident while on the job. This insurance is paid completely by Bethel. Should you lose work time or incur medical expenses because of a work-related accident, lost time will be paid in one of three ways. The manner in which it is paid is dependent on whether the time lost is:

  1. Lost time that is periodic is to be recorded in the "sick leave" area on your timesheet. Bethel pays you 100% during this time. However, once your sick leave is depleted, you will be required to use any accrued vacation, personal, and holiday time. Any workers' compensation time beyond that will be unpaid.
  2. Employees out on temporary partial, and are eligible for payments from the workers' compensation insurer, will be paid at their normal rate from Bethel throughout the duration of their workers' comp time. Therefore, employees will be required to sign over the amount paid to them by the workers' compensation insurer. Non-exempt employees should record lost time in the "worker's compensation" area on your timesheet. Paid leave (vacation, personal, or holiday time) will not be deducted as long as the checks from the workers' compensation insurer are signed over to Bethel. Exempt employees do not need to record the time on their leave reports. They are still required to sign over their checks from the workers' compensation insurer to Bethel.
  3. Employees out on temporary total, and are eligible for payments from the workers' compensation insurer, will be paid at their normal rate from Bethel throughout the duration of their workers' comp time. Therefore, employees will be required to sign over the amount paid to them by the workers' compensation insurer. Non-exempt employees should record lost time in the "worker's compensation" area on your timesheet.
