You can add a link to a Hangout in a Google Calendar invite
Open Google Calendar and create an event
Within the invite click on "Add video call"
This will then place a link within the calendar invite
When the recipient of the invite clicks an the link a Hangout is initiated. You can also copy this URL and send it out via email or post it in Moodle.

Click on the Google Hangouts icon

To see this icon you will need to make sure that you have turned on the chat feature enabled.

This will then place the chat window on your Gmail page
