Forum Grading Using Rubrics in Moodle

After creating the initial forum, also create an assignment, for example Forum 1.1 Grade. In the settings for the assignment, under “Submission types,” uncheck the check-boxes for both “File submission” and “Online Text.”  Students will see the assignment called Forum 1.1 Grade and when they click on the link they will be told that there is nothing to submit in this assignment and they will see the rubric or marking guide that you have created for the forum. You can also explain the purpose of the link in the Assignment description.  

NOTE: Do NOT hide the "assignment" as then students will not have access to the rubric OR to their grade or your grade comments.

Participation

Posted an initial post and required amount of responses

Posted an initial post but did not meet the required amount of responses

Posted an initial post but did not reply to others OR Did not post initial post but replied to others

Did not post to forum

Contributions

Originated or significantly expanded on more than one significant, informed, and supported original contribution

Originated or expanded on one conversation with some information, value, depth, and support.
