How to fix a broken link to a file in Assignment, Forum, etc. Instructions
Symptom: Students report that when they click on a link to a file in Moodle that they get a message that they are "not enrolled" in the course.
Cause: The file link is actually to a version of the document in a template or a previous version of the course.
Fix: Download the linked file that you may be able to access and save it to your desktop or course folder. Then redo the link as follows:
Step 1: Download file. In the image example below you just click on the link "this worksheet" and the file should download to your desktop or downloads folder (or right-click and download linked file as to designate where you would like to save the file).
Step 2: Edit the settings for the assignment by clicking on Edit Settings in the Assignment Administration block.
Step 3: Highlight the file link to select it. Then click on the "insert/edit link" tool in the toolbar.
Step 4: In the Insert/Edit Link dialog click the Browse button to the right of the URL field, locate your file on your local computer, and then click "upload this file" to close the browse dialog and then click "update" to close the Insert/Edit Link dialog.
Step 5: Finally click Save and return to course to close the edit settings page and return to your course. This should now associate the file with the assignment in your course and allow students to access the linked file.
