Using Rubrics and Grading Criteria
Well-designed online courses will strive for clarity and efficiency, both of which can be achieved through well-constructed rubrics and/or grading criteria.
Using a new, different grading criteria for every assignment keeps students guessing and focused on points or changing requirements. In contrast, intentional, repeated use of a common rubric or criteria in a course can relieve students of structural stress and free them to focus on content learning.
