Wi-Fi and Network Connection Options

Wireless Networks On-Site at Bethel

  • Bethel: This is our primary wireless network at Bethel. You will need a Bethel account with an active Faculty, Staff, or Student role in order to login with your Bethel Community Account username and password.

  • Bethel-Guest: This is the guest/open network on campus. When this network is selected from a device a splash screen will appear (similar to connecting at an airport, coffee shop, or hotel). Use this network if you are a visitor of Bethel or do not have an active Faculty, Staff, or Student role required for the Bethel network.

    • Connection to Bethel-Guest is also necessary if you are using a device that is not capable of 802.1x authentication, which includes IoT (internet of things) and smart devices such as smart TVs, video game consoles, Roku, Chromecast, Amazon Fire Stick, etc. Devices such as these are unable to authenticate to Bethel-Guest on their own and require their wireless MAC address to be registered first to our Device Registration Portal at https://registration.its.bethel.edu. Instructions for how to register your device can be found at this Confluence article: Device Registration Portal.

  • MAB-Devices: This is a closed network for ITS use with faculty or staff needs when connection to the Bethel or Bethel-Guest networks is not applicable.

Wired Network Access On-Site at Bethel

  • Ethernet: This is a direct connection to our network using an Ethernet cable from a wall port or Polycom VoIP desk phone to the computer. For Network Port Activation Requests, see this Confluence article: Network Port Activation Requests. Please note for student port activation requests within dorms, port activations are limited
