Application in an online setting: If the exam/quiz is administered through Moodle accommodations may apply; however, process for approval would remain between the student and professor.
Qualification for testing accommodations: OARS provides a Testing Center for students with testing accommodations. Testing accommodations are changes to the regular testing environment and auxiliary aids and services that allow individuals with disabilities to demonstrate their true aptitude on exams. The provision of accommodations to students with disabilities does not carry with it an obligation to reduce the level of the course content or to lower the standards of mastery. Bethel complies with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and is committed to providing reasonable accommodations for students with documented physical or mental impairments that substantially limit one or more of the major life activities.
Applications where notecard may not reasonable: In some courses, the Note Card accommodation may not be reasonable if its use affects the student's ability to demonstrate mastery of the subject. This may also apply to certain quizzes, depending on their nature and timing. In such cases, OARS will work with the student and faculty to determine what is reasonable.
