How to Send Faculty Notification Letter of Accommodations in AIM
Use your Bethel University ID and Password to log into AIM. You can also access AIM by going to MyBethel > Tools & Resources > Accessibility Accommodations (AIM)
Step 1 - Add Request for Classes:
On your main MyDashboard - Overview page, locate the box titled “Accommodation Requests” and click on the blue link - “Add Request for Classes”
Step 2 - Select Courses:
You should now list a list of your courses for the current term. Select each course you would like to use accommodations in and click, “Continue to Next Step.”
Step 3 - Select Accommodations:
Each course will now appear in it’s own box listing your approved/eligible accommodations. Approved accommodations were determined at your initial intake meeting upon registering with OARS.
Select the accommodations you want to use in each course. Accommodation selection options are: “select all” (to select all of your approved accommodations), individually select the accommodations you want to use in each course or click “I don't not need accommodations for this course.”
Step 4 - Submit Request:
Once you have selected accommodations for each course, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click, “Submit Request.” An Accommodation Letter(s) will automatically send to you and each of your professors. Your student email address will appear at the top on the letter to allow for accurate student identification and professor response.
You can modify your accommodation request at any time during the semester; however, accommodations are not retroactive.
** It is recommend that you follow up with each professor to ensure they have received your Faculty Notification Letter prior to or immediately following the first class session.
If you add a course during drop/add, you must log in to AIM and request your Faculty Notification Letter for the new course.
Certain accommodations ‘require explicit approval’ in which case the Faculty Notification Letter is submitted by you as described above, then your Accessibility Specialist will review and send it.
Upon completion of this process, your accommodations for the current semester will now be displayed on the “My Dashboard” tab.
NOTE: In order for academic accommodations to apply during finals week, students must have sent the Faculty Notification Letter(s) at least 5 business days prior to the final day of class. Students are required to send their letters each semester in order to use accommodations.
If you have any difficulty with these steps or have questions, please contact our office at oars@bethel.edu. or call 641-638-6833.
