Selecting Faculty Governance Assembly Representatives
Faculty Handbook Appendix: Selecting Faculty Governance Assembly Representatives
Anderson Family College of Health Sciences
The AFCHS organized its faculty into five groups:
Nursing & Community Health
Social work
Applied Health Sciences
Counseling/Speech Pathology
PA/Medical Science
One group will be represented by the FGA executive from AFCHS. The other 4 areas will work together to select their representative as vacancies occur through retirement from FGA or replacement for sabbatical or other reasons.
College of Arts, Sciences & Education
Representatives are nominated by and elected by the voting-eligible faculty in three divisions: Sciences, Arts & Humanities, and Education. Elections will occur to replace retiring representatives or to replace for one-year terms representatives who are awarded sabbaticals. The FGA Executive team member from CASE will conduct the election by email.
School of Business
FGA representation for the School of Business will normally consist of: One representative from Communication Studies; One representative from traditional undergraduate Business; One representative from online undergraduate or the graduate program; and one floating representative from any of the three listed areas. Representation from each program area is expected, but not mandatory. If no one from an area accepts a nomination, it will not void the full process, but rather the 4 representatives will be selected from those who were nominated.
Nominations for FGA representatives can either be self-nominations or nominations that come from others in either department.
Nominations will be accepted for one week once the nominating period is opened. The nominated individual will have the opportunity to accept or reject the nomination prior to when the voting window opens.
Once nominations are closed, a voting period will occur for the approval of the nominated individuals. If fewer than 4 are nominated, a vote will be conducted for the existing slate. After that vote, a second nominating period will ensue to fill the remaining seat(s).
School of Theology and Bethel Seminary
When vacancies in FGA representation will occur in the coming year, the STBS faculty will discuss during a regular faculty meeting who would best represent them, and affirm the selection by a vote at the meeting.
