Registered Sex Offenders

The Federal Campus Sex Crimes Prevention Act (section 1601 of Public Law 106-386) is a law that provides for the tracking of convicted, registered sex offenders enrolled as students at institutions of higher education, or working or volunteering on campus. The law requires:

  1. Convicted Offenders to register with the University and provide notice of their enrollment or employment at an institution of higher education to the appropriate state agency,

  2. The University to obtain the necessary information from students and employees, and to provide a statement advising the community where law enforcement agency information concerning registered sex offenders may be obtained.

  3. Campus security personnel to use this information to deter crime and aid investigations,

    1. They must also assist with collection of the information, and in the creation of a publicly accessible database of offenders.

Minnesota Department of Corrections

MnDoC provides information Level 3 Predatory Offenders in the state of MN in accordance with MN Statutes 244.052. Local law enforcement agencies decide, on a case-by-case basis what information is to be posted. Searches may be conducted on their Level 3 Predatory Offender Search page.

Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension
