Application - Kurzweil 3000-firefly

 

Summary

Kurzweil 3000 and firefly (http://www.kurzweiledu.com/) are "Text to Speech, Literacy Software".  "Access text anywhere, anytime with a cloud-based library. Human-quality text-to-speech & reference tools enable students to read at, or above, their proficiency level, which is essential for ELL, SPED, and those with dyslexia, to achieve CCS and succeed in college".  Bethel has a campus license for both the firefly web application and the install versions, Kurzweil 3000, for both Mac and Windows.

Request an account by contacting Disability Resources and Serviceshttp://www.bethel.edu/offices/disability/ .  Once an account is set up, you will receive an email with further instructions.  If you don't receive the email, please check your Spam folder in Google for a message from "Cambium Tech Customer Service". 

General Information

Access firefly at: http://www.fireflybykurzweil.com/. You can use firefly to browse through your Universal Library and read Kurzweil or text files directly from a computer's web browser.

Kurzweil 3000 Web License for Windows or Macintosh
On a computer with Kurzweil 3000 Web License for Windows (Version 13) or Macintosh (Version 5) installed, you can log into Kurzweil 3000 with your firefly username and password. If you need Kurzweil 3000 software on your computer, you can download and install from one of these locations: Macintosh — www.kurzweiledu.com/k3mac or Windows — www.kurzweiledu.com/k3win. Videos on how to install each can be found at the location listed above.

The firefly iPad app
With our firefly iPad app and your firefly username and password you will be able to access your Universal Library and read Kurzweil or text files directly on your personal iPad.

Read the Web - Firefox Browser Plugin
Download and install in Firefox the kesireader.xpi plugin to use with Kurzweil 3000.  (Instructions for Read the Web)
