Shack Policy

Residence Hall “shacks” are designated locations in each area where students can gather for social and support connections. Shack guidelines:

• Shack hours will be limited to hours posted in each residence hall location (7 - 9 p.m. or 9 - 11 p.m).
• The capacity of each shack will be posted outside the shack but will be fewer than 10 students per shack, depending on the ability to create 6 feet distance from each other.
• Shack spaces will be cleaned at least once per day by Facilities Management custodial staff. Residence Life student staff will provide general sanitizing at the beginning and end of each shift.
• Because each hall is unique, Residence Life will modify shack expectations for each residence area. Distancing and cleaning expectations will be the same across all areas.

RAs will monitor capacity limits and will keep a log of who stops by the shack each night. RDs and Residence Life staff will have access to those logs for future reference for contact tracing if needed.
