Student employees or colleagues may nominate supervisors who work with student employees whom they feel warrant particular recognition for their performance on the job. The Student Employment Supervisor of the Year (SESOTY) Award Program begins at the institutional level and moves on to regional recognition. MASEA looks to student employees and supervisor’s colleagues at colleges and universities across the region to make nominations.

Nominations will be judged on the following characteristics: mentoring, professionalism and leadership provided to the student employee.
Please include:
• The nominee’s greatest attributes, as they relate to their supervision.
• How the nominee has gone above and beyond the standard work expectations as a supervisor.
• The quality of the nominee’s work and work style.
• The nominee’s leadership skills, initiative, and motivation.
• The impact the nominee has had on your student employees.
• The qualities of the nominee that set him/her apart from other student employment supervisorsThe primary purpose and ultimate goal of the Student Employee Supervisor of the Year program is to recognize the outstanding contributions, coaching, and mentoring provided to Bethel Student Employees.
Eligibility:
All non-exempt or exempt employees who have been employed for a minimum of six months and supervise student employees.
Criteria:
Employees will be evaluated on:
- Mentoring
- Professionalism
- Leadership
Selection Committee:
The Selection Committee will be the members of the Office of People and Culture.
Selection Process and Procedure:
The procedure for selecting the recipient for the Student Employee Supervisor of the Year is as follows:
- A nomination form must be submitted including specific rationale based on the criteria as to why the nominee is deserving of this special recognition.
- Nominations will be submitted to OPC during the submission period (December - January).
- Each nomination will be reviewed by the OPC representative and then forwarded to the Selection Committee.
- The Selection Committee will recommend to Cabinet a nominee for the Student Employee of the Year Award. Cabinet will give final approval..
- A maximum of one recipient will be awarded each fiscal year.
Reward:
The Student Employee Supervisor of the Year recipient will receive:
- $250 cash award
- Letter of recognition from the president.
- Social media posting recognizing the student employment supervisor.
Announcement Procedure:
- The People Relations Specialist will work with the nominator on how and when to notify the winner.
- The $250 cash award will be presented along with the letter of recognition from the president.
- Recipient’s photo will be taken.
After the recipient is awarded, an article/social media posting will be published on Bethel News/social media and an e-announcement will be submitted to announce to the larger Bethel Community.
