Beginning in Fall 2021, students registered with OARS will be responsible for sending their Faculty Notification Letter of Accommodations. Prior to Fall 2021, OARS sent letters on behalf of the students. By sending their own letters, students gain more control and individualization for the accommodations utilized for their courses.

What: Sending your Faculty Notification Letter of Accommodations each term.

Why: Sending your Letter of Accommodations alerts your professors of the accommodations you are eligible to utilize in the course which ensures you have the appropriate access.

When: Each term you’ll need to log in to send your Letter of Accommodations. We recommend you send your letter Faculty Notification Letters/Accommodation Letters alert the professor of the accommodations students are approved and eligible to use in the course.  Students with approved accommodations through OARS are responsible for sending their Faculty Notification Letter (FNL) of accommodations each term to their professors.

How to Send Faculty Notification Letters

Each term students are required log into AIM and send their FNL/Accommodation Letter. It is recommend letters are sent up to three week prior to the start of the term (up to three weeks prior to the start of the class). You can modify your accommodation request /class.

  • Log in to your AIM portal. You may view this resource page for step-by-step instructions on how to send Faculty Notification Letter of Accommodations.
  • Students have the ability to choose what approved accommodation are used in each course.
  • Accommodation modification requests can be made at any time during the term; however, accommodations are not retroactive and cannot be applied to course requirements prior to receipt of the letter. If you add a course, you must log in and

  • send the Faculty Notification Letter of Accommodation for the new course(s).

Students are required to send their letters each semester.

AccommodationsDesigned to reduce or eliminate barriers in the learning environment in order to ensure students with disabilities have equal access and An arrangement that provides equal access to those with disabilities giving opportunity to learn and fully participate fully in all educational programs.

Advisor = Accessibility Specialist as assigned by students last name name. 

Accommodations Letter = Also known as the Faculty Notification Letter is ; an email sent to a student’s professors which lists contains information about the approved accommodations the student is eligible to utilize use in class. 

AIM = The OARS portal student's log in use to generate and sent send Faculty Notification Letters of AccommodationAccommodations.

Eligibility = Accommodations The approved accommodations a student is eligible for allowed to utilize use at Bethel that are determined when a student registers with OARS.

Faculty Notification Letter of Accommodation( Also known as an accommodation letter) is Accommodation Letter; an email that notifies professors of a student’s accommodation requestssent to professors which contains information about the approved accommodations the student is eligible to use in class.
