The Argos Desktop Client will be changing by end of June 2019. This article will no longer be relevant post June 2019.

Summary

If a user is unable to access their Banner and Argos accounts, which often occurs after a Java update, adding a Banner and Argos exception to the Java Console may resolve the issue.

Clear Java Cache

Follow the instructions in this article to clear the Java cache.

Adding a Banner and Argos Exception to the Java Console

  1. Close all browsers and Java applications

  2. Click Start and select Control Panel

  3. Click the Java icon to open the Java Control Panel

  4. Select Security tab

  5. Click Edit Site List (or Manage Site List) button

  6. Click Add

  7. In the Location field, type https://bannerinb.bethel.edu

  8. Click Add

  9. In the Location field, type https://argos.bethel.edu/argos

  10. Click Add

  11. In the Location field, type https://argos.bethel.edu

  12. After you have added all locations, select OK

Adding Exceptions Manually

In some cases, the exceptions won't hold by adding them using the above method. If needed, you can manually add the exceptions by going to C:\Windows\Sun\Java\Deployment\exception.sites, adding the user to have full control of this file, opening the file in Notepad, and adding the URL the user is trying to access.
