Summary

On this page you will find information on troubleshooting your Firefox web browser. Please refer to the directions below for clearing website data, history, passwords, etc.


Clearing Website Data (cache and cookies)

  1. On the upper right-hand corner of the browser window click on the Menu icon (3 vertical dots).
  2. Click on "Settings"
  3. Select the "Advanced" dropdown on the left.
    1. Click on "Privacy and Security".
  4. Click on "Clear Browsing Data"
  5. A small window will pop-up.
    1. Select what you want to clear, click "Clear Data".

Clearing History

  1. On the upper right-hand corner of the browser window click on the Menu icon (3 vertical dots).
  2. Click on "Settings"
  3. Select the "Advanced" dropdown on the left.
    1. Click on "Privacy and Security".
  4. Click on "Clear Browsing Data"
  5. A small window will pop-up.
    1. Select what you want to clear, click "Clear Data".

Creating a Google account and Syncing

  1. On the upper right-hand corner of the browser window click on the Menu icon (3 vertical dots).
  2. Click on "Settings"
  3. Select "People" on the left.
    1. Click on "Turn on Sync".
  4. A Google sign-in prompt will appear.
    1. 650pxType your Bethel email here, click "Next".
  5. Then a Bethel login screen will appear.
    1. Log in with your Bethel username and password
  6. You should be brought to a new screen like the one below.
    1. Click "Yes, I'm in".

Blocking Pop-ups

  1. On the upper right-hand corner of the browser window click on the Menu icon (3 vertical dots).
  2. Click on "Settings"
  3. Select the "Advanced" dropdown on the left.
    1. Click on "Privacy and Security".
  4. Click on "Site Settings"
  5. Scroll down until you see "Pop-ups and redirects"
    1. Make sure that "Blocked" is toggled on.
  6. Click on "Ads"
    1. Make sure that "Blocked" is toggled on. 

Turning off Hardware Acceleration

  1. On the upper right-hand corner of the browser window click on the Menu icon (3 vertical dots).
  2. Click on "Settings"
  3. Select the "Advanced" dropdown on the left.
    1. Click on "System".
  4. Under System there should be a "Use hardware acceleration when available" option.
    1. Toggle to turn off. Then click "Relaunch"

Private Browsing

  1. On the upper right-hand corner of the browser window click on the Menu icon (3 vertical dots).
  2. Click on "New Incognito Window"
  3. A new Chrome window will appear.
