Classroom Learning Experience

Classroom Learning Experience

  • Changing mod schedules with staggered start and end times - The CAS module schedule for Fall 2020 has been slightly modified in order to decrease hallway traffic. Students’ classes have not changed, but since timing has, students can expect to have slightly revised start and stop times for their classes for Fall 2020. These updates have been made and students can see their schedules in MyBethel.
  • Course modalities will vary to best support learning the subject matter being taught and to consider safety. This fall students can expect that some courses will be offered face-to-face, and others partly in-person and partly via remote technology (in other words, in a “hybrid” format). In addition, some courses will be taught dynamically and remotely, via technology.
    • Modified F2F - Faculty are designing courses in innovative ways to reach learning outcomes through a combination of face-to-face (F2F) and online experiences.  F2F classes require social distancing. Therefore, for some classes, all enrolled students cannot be in the classroom at one time. For some classes faculty will meet with part of the class some days and other students on other days. To indicate a Modified F2F class, students will see a classroom listed on their schedule. There will also be days and times listed.
    • Fully Online: No Scheduled Class Times - Students are free to engage lectures and assignments using Moodle when they can focus best. There are no scheduled meeting times. Students have online access to materials and must meet scheduled deadlines for assignments. Students should expect regular engagement, mediated through technology, with peers and faculty. Students will see “Web” listed as the classroom on their schedule, and the time will list 12:00A-11:59P.
    • Fully Online: Scheduled Class Times - Students will have regular class meetings in real time using Zoom, or a similar platform, during scheduled class times. Students will see “Web” listed as the classroom on their schedule. There will also be days and times listed.
  • Students who need or want to only participate in class fully online should indicate that preference on a survey coming out at the end of July. Though Bethel isn’t guaranteeing students can participate in all classes without coming to campus, most classes will be available in that format. Students enrolled in a class that is fully online will need to be available when their class is scheduled in order to participate remotely.
  • Students who would like to request a disability-related accommodation should contact the Office of Accessibility Resources and Services as soon as possible by calling 651-638-6307 or emailing accessibility-services@bethel.edu.
