Accommodation Letter Text: "The student will need transcriptions made of all videos used in the course. The professor needs to send the video links, as well as the date by which each video is needed, to OARS 2+ weeks before they are to be viewed. OARS will send the videos to a third-party vendor who will provide this service.."

Determine student eligibility for a closed captioning as an accommodation.

Send out an accommodation letter in a timely manner.

Consult with faculty to receive all videos that need transcriptions created for the student.

Submit videos to a third-party vendor and ensure transcriptions are given to the student in a timely manner to complete assignments.

Inform your professor about your intention to use this accommodation in their course.

Alert your professor and OARS if there are any videos you need transcriptions for that you have not yet received.

It is the professor's responsibility to provide links to videos for the course.

Please send the videos and/or links, as well as the date by which the videos are needed, to the OARS office 2+ weeks before they are to be viewed. OARS will send the video to a third party who will provide this service.

Accommodation application in an online setting: This accommodation applies the same online as face-to-face. 

Qualification for Accommodation: Transcriptions is an appropriate accommodation for students who are deaf or hard-of-hearing, or those who may have a disability that requires audio description.
