  2. The candidate must be academically qualified or have acceptable tested experience in an area related to his or her teaching

  3. The faculty member must have a strong record of teaching performance

    1. the relevant Dean(s)/Associate Provost

    2. the chairs/program directors for all courses Affiliate Faculty member would teach

    3. the candidate

  1. Department chair or program director then completes this form to request an Affiliate Faculty contract for the candidate.

  1. Forms will be evaluated starting March 1. Institutional approval will trigger a request for budget information associated with each assigned course/task.

  1. If the candidate has Adjunct Plus status or has previously served as a Teaching Partner or Affiliate Faculty member, then all that is required is completion of the request form and, for the candidate, a brief interview with the Provost to (re)affirm alignment with Bethel’s guiding documents.

  1. If the candidate has taught as an adjunct at Bethel but has not had Adjunct Plus status or served as Teaching Partner or Affiliate Faculty member, then the following process is initiated:

    1. The candidate submits to the Provost’s office (provost@bethel.edu) an updated vita and a self-assessment that includes reflection on past courses and course evaluations, and two-three goals for teaching in the coming year (no more than 750 words)

    2. The department chair or program director submits to the Provost’s office (provost@bethel.edu) a completed teaching observation form (download and use one of three acceptable forms found here, here, and here), and a written recommendation for the candidate

    3. All materials, plus the candidate’s original application materials, are made available to the appropriate Associate Provost and/or Dean, and the Provost

    4. The candidate is interviewed by the appropriate Associate Provost and/or Dean

    5. The candidate is interviewed by the Provost.

  1. If the candidate has not previously taught at Bethel, then the following process is initiated:

    1. The candidate applies through an adjunct job posting on the Bethel Faculty Employment page

    2. The candidate goes through an expanded application process that, in addition to the regular steps for adjunct hiring, includes:

      1. Submission of self-assessment that includes reflection on past courses and course evaluations, and two-three goals for teaching in the coming year (no more than 750 words)

      2. An interview with the relevant Associate Provost / Dean
