Bethel's re-employment policy for staff recognizes the value of prior training and experience in a position with Bethel when considering individuals for reinstatement.

Full- and part-time employees who have terminated and whose employment records with Bethel are in good standing are eligible for re-employment. In order to receive the following considerations, the re-employment must occur within one year from date of resignation. Employees seeking re-employment must make application for announced position openings through the Office of Human Resources. Re-employment in a different career path or higher salary grade requires a new introductory period.

  1. Salary may be at any rate of pay up to the last rate received, but must be within the salary range of the position.
  2. Credit will be given for prior years of service to determine the vacation accrual rate.
  3. The employee's date of continuous service will be adjusted to include time previously spent in continuous employment with Bethel University.

Individuals who are re-employed by Bethel after having been separated from employment (excluding project and temporary appointments) for more than one year will be considered as new employees subject to all policies and practices.
