Expectations for Physical Office Hours

With the return of students for modified face-to-face learning, it is important that our offices are open for walk-ins in order to serve students, and each other, well. We also recognize that many employees will continue working remotely based on the nature of their work and needs of their office, including those in group 4 or those with childcare issues. To balance those needs, effective August 17, 2020, we expect offices to be open for walk-ins daily from 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday-Friday. Some department heads may require longer office hours if they are student-facing. 

Note that this does not mean everyone on the team needs to be onsite each day. Depending on the requirements of their position, and upon supervisor approval, employees can work a blended schedule, meaning part-time onsite and part-time remotely. Department heads will work with their teams to determine how their physical office hours will be covered. 

Department heads should contact their Cabinet member for approval if they desire to have their department remain physically closed for walk-ins given the nature of their department’s function.
