Gift Days
Occasionally, extra paid days off, called Gift Days, are given to the community to celebrate significant events or to accommodate university-wide maintenance. The list of Gift Days is reviewed and approved each year by the Cabinet. Examples have included weekdays between Christmas and New Year's Day. Like vacation days, gift days are not paid out when an employee leaves Bethel. If a faculty or staff member is not scheduled to work on a Gift Day, they cannot use it on a different date. However, if an employee is required to work on a Gift Day, they may take that time off on an alternative date. This alternative date must be arranged in advance with their supervisor, similar to how a Floating Holiday is managed.
