Donation Collection in Residence Halls

Bethel University Residence Hall community spaces are primarily used for recreation and/or study purposes. However, in some instances, the main lounge/lobby may be used as a space to collect donated items (coats, blankets, canned goods, etc.).

All groups wishing to collect donated items must first gain approval from the Residence Life Office. If you wish to make a request to collect donated items, please contact residence-life@bethel.edu.

Items to include in the request:

• When will the collection containers be delivered? 
• When will the collection containers be picked up?
• Are you picking up the items at the end of the campaign or throughout?
• What is the plan for picking up the items?
• How are students going to know what the collection boxes are for?
• What are the marketing/promotional strategies for the campaign? 
• What is the contact information of the person in charge of the collection campaign?

Failure to gain proper approval or failure to follow through with the established agreement will result in item removal and/or a ban from future opportunities. 

The following factors will apply: 

• All groups collecting items must be sponsored by an official Bethel organization or department. 
• No group will be permitted to collect items for more than two weeks. 
• Donation containers should be dropped off at the beginning of the two weeks and promptly removed at the end of the two weeks.
  • Each organization is responsible for the delivery and pickup of donation containers, as well as regular collection throughout the specified time frame. If the containers are not properly maintained Residence Life reserves the right to end the drive early.
• Residence Life will approve up to three drives per semester. 
• Failure to follow the policy and/or directions given by the Residence Life Office could result in future request(s) denial
