Bicycles, Motorcycles, Mopeds, and Scooters

Bicycles may only be parked or stored in designated bicycle racks outside of residence halls. They may not be stored in stairwells, lounges, hallways, your room, etc.
Bicycles must not be left on campus over the summer except for residents living in North Village Summer Housing. Bicycles left in bicycle racks in any other location after May 31 each year will be considered to be abandoned and will be removed.
Motorcycles, mopeds, and scooters can be parked on the sidewalks and concreted areas surrounding buildings so long as they are not blocking a path of egress or blocking maintenance access. They may not be driven on pedestrian pathways and must have a current license. ATVs, dirt bikes or other vehicles that cannot be legally driven on roadways are not allowed on campus.
- Riders must wear eye protection at all times.
- Operators must have a valid driver’s license, a valid motorized bicycle operator’s permit, or a valid motorized bicycle instruction permit.
- Moped and scooter riders may not carry passengers. Â
- Mopeds and scooters are prohibited from sidewalks, except when necessary for direct access to a roadway from a driveway, alley or building. In those instances, they must be walked, not driven.
- Mopeds and scooters cannot operate in designated bicycle lanes. Mopeds are not allowed on the Hill pedestrian bridge, unless walked across.
- Mopeds and scooters  must be legally registered and have liability insurance in order to operate on a public street or highway.Â
- Mopeds and scooters can not ride in any area that is restricted to emergency vehicles and buses only.
- Such vehicles may not operate off of roadways. Operation off roadways, could result in a citation and impoundment.
