Download and Upload an Archive of Personal Email

This article will walk the user through how to archive personal emails in their Bethel email account. There is currently not a way to import this archive into a personal account.
- Navigate toĀ Google Takeout.
- The first thing you need to do isĀ DeselectĀ All at the top right of the screen.
3. Scroll down until you have foundĀ Mail. You can select the box next to that option and click onĀ All Mail data included.
4. You can select the label that you created or all mail if you wish.
5. On the next page will be options to download the contents you selected. You will use theĀ Send download link via email option. You will have Export once selected and theĀ File Size will depend on how large of a file you have created. Once those settings have been set, you can selectĀ Create export.
6. Once you have clicked onĀ Create export, you will receive a message that states the export progress has started. This may take a couple of hours or a day depending on size of folder.
7. You will then navigate to your email once you have received the email stating transfer is complete. The email will be received fromĀ noreply@google.com. You will click on the optionĀ Download your files.
8. You have now downloaded an archive of your personal emails!
- Navigate to the built inĀ Mail application.
- Make sure you are logged in to your personal email account.
- On the top, selectĀ File andĀ Import Mailboxes.
4. Select the optionĀ Files in mbox format and select continue.
5. You will navigate to the downloaded archive of your email from Google Takeout. Make sure the file type has .mbox after the folder.
6. Your inbox will be uploaded and you will receive the success message below.
7. Your archived mailbox will be underĀ On My Mac. Click and drag that mailbox to under your personal email. This will upload your personal emails into your personal account!
Things to Note
To ensure the emails have transferred properly, please navigate to your personal email on a web browser and look for the newly created label.
