Change Recorded Name, Busy Greeting, or No Answer Greeting for an individual desk phone number

If the phone number you want the greeting changed for is an individual number, most likely being your personal Bethel-provided phone number, the below instructions will guide you through setting a new greeting message.

  • Log into the voice portal by pressing the mail envelope button or by pressing *86 on the keypad.
    • If you are away from your desk phone, you can also access your voice portal from any phone by dialing your direct number and waiting for the voicemail greeting. Once you hear your greeting press the * key and continue with the next step in the below instructions.
  • You will be asked to enter your voicemail password, then press the # key.
  • You are now logged into the voice portal. This is where the steps for the recorded name or greeting audios diverge. Follow the relevant steps below depending on the audio you'd like to change.

Recorded Name

By default, the voicemail will play the Recorded Name in the format of "{Recorded Name} is not available to take your call. Please leave a message after the tone. Press the pound key to end recording." Follow the prompts from the automated system using the below input numbers to record a new name for the voicemail inbox.

  • Press 3 to go to the greetings menu.
  • Press 1 to go to the recorded name menu.
  • Press 1 to record your name.
  • Press to play the current name recording.
  • Press * to return to the previous menu.
  • Press # to repeat the options.

Busy or No Answer Greetings

If you prefer the voicemail not to play the default greeting of "{recorded name} is not available to take your call. Please leave a message after the tone. Press the pound key to end recording" when a caller reaches your voicemail, follow the prompts from the automated system using the below input numbers to record a new Busy or No Answer Greeting for the voicemail inbox.

Change Busy or No Answer Greetings for a group or departmental phone number

If the phone number you want the greeting changed for is an auto attendant, call center, or hunt group, where the phone number that runs the greeting message is not tied to one specific desk phone, it is recommended to send a new greeting as a recorded audio file to the ITS Help Desk. This can be performed by following the directions in this Confluence article.
