Poodll for Students

Summary

Bethel has a new tool for Moodle assignments and forums called Poodll. Poodll will allow you to create short audio and video recordings of yourself for assignments and forums.

Assignment Submissions

When a faculty member creates an assignment in Moodle requiring a video response, it is likely that the faculty member will ask that you use Poodll. 

To use Poodll:

1. Click on the assignment

2. Click on "Add submission" at the bottom of the page

3. There will now be a red camera button at the bottom of the recorder

   1. When you are ready to begin your video, press the camera button

   2. When you are done with your video, press stop

   3. There may also be a timer at the top of the recorder. This timer will count down if there is a time limit for the assignment

4. Wait for "Uploaded Successful" before clicking Save Changes

   1. If you click Save Changes before getting the "Uploaded Successful" message, the assignment will not submit

5. If you want to watch your video, you can click back into the assignment to watch your submission

6. If allowed, you can edit your submission

   1. Please check with your professor to ensure that you are allowed multiple attempts before removing your submission

Forum Submissions

When a faculty member creates a forum in Moodle, Poodll can also be used to create a video response. Poodll is built into every forum, so please read the instructions or verify with your professor if video, audio, or text is required. 

To use Poodll for a new discussion topic: 

1. Click on the forum

2. Click on "Add a new discussion topic"

3. Put a title in the Subject line

4. Select the camera icon from the toolbar

   Open

5. There will now be a red camera button at the bottom of the recorder

   1. When you are ready to begin your video, press the camera button

   2. When you are done with your video, press stop

   3. If you are happy with the result, click save

6. Wait for Poodll to post the video player in the forum post

   1. If you click out of the forum before Poodll has fully saved, the video will not post

7. Click "Post to forum"

To use Poodll for a forum response:

1. Click on the forum

2. Choose a forum post to respond

3. Click Reply

4. Choose Advanced in the bottom right

5. Select the camera icon from the toolbar 

   Open

6. There will now be a red camera button at the bottom of the recorder

   1. When you are ready to begin your video, press the camera button

   2. When you are done with your video, press stop

   3. If you are happy with the result, click save

7. Wait for the conversion to finish the recording pop up window to disappear.

   1. A URL or embedded video will appear in the forum text box.

8. Click "Post to forum"
