Updates After a Password Change

Summary
This article will outline common updates that staff and faculty will need to make after changing their Bethel University password. Details on when password resets are forced can be found in the Bethel University Password Policy. The article will be broken down into 5 sections: updates for Mac OS, Windows, Android, iPhone, and Web Browsers.
Mac OS
The password will need to be updated for Follow Me Printer.
- Attempt to print a document
- Open System Preferences.
- Select Printers & Scanners.
- Select Follow Me Printer and click Open Print Queue.
- Select the refresh circle on the right side of the print job.
- Type in the new password.
After changing your password, Keychain needs to be updated.
- Log out of your computer and log back in. A prompt will show up asking to update your Keychain.
- Type in your previous Bethel password (or whichever password you were using to log in).
- To double check that it updated, open Keychain Access.
- Lock Keychain "login".
- Unlock Keychain "login".
- Type in your new password.
- If the new password is not accepted, follow the Apple instructions to update your log in keychain.
The log in password should change over to your new password. In case it doesn't pick up the new password, connecting your computer to the Bethel Network via ethernet and logout and log back in with your new password.
Windows
Logging out and logging back in will update your Bethel eduroam password. If you use the eduroam network, follow the instructions for eduroam for Windows 7, 8, & 10 to reset up this connection.
Android
eduroam can be set up two ways on an Android.
eduroamCAT app
- Open the eduroamCAT app.
- Update your password.
eduroam certificate
- Open wifi settings.
- Select Edit for the eduroam network.
- Update your password.
The gmail app will forget your account when you update your password. Follow the instructions to Setup Email on Phone or Mobile Device.
iPhone
eduroam will no longer be able to authenticate after a password reset.
- Open Settings.
- Select Wi-Fi.
- Select eduroam and type in the new password.
- If eduroam is unable to authenticate with the new password, you will need to reset the eduroam profile on the phone. Open Settings.
- Select General.
- Select Profile and select eduroam.
- Remove Profile.
- Follow the instructions to reinstall the eduroam profile from eduroam for ios.
You will need to re-enter your password for email to work in the Mail app.
- Open Settings.
- Select Passwords & Accounts.
- Select your Gmail account.
- Select Re-enter Password.
- Confirm email and select Next.
- Enter your new Bethel credentials and Sign-in.
- Select which inbox you want to access.
Your email will automatically sign out of the Gmail app. Follow the instructions to Setup Email on Phone or Mobile Device.
Web Browsers
If you have saved passwords in your web browsers, you will need to update the password. If you type in your new password, upon log in you will be prompted to update your saved password. Select Save.
