Temporary Accommodations
Temporary accommodations are for students who experience an unexpected medical need such as, but not limited to; concussion, surgery, or broken bone. Temporary accommodations are approved for 4 weeks up to a full/remainder of semester. For student’s whose temporary accommodation need is less than 4 weeks it is recommended to work with Student Life for interim accommodations/support.
To register for temporary accommodations through the Office of Accessibility Resources and Services (OARS) student must complete the following steps:
Complete the OARS Online Application (AIM)
Submit a letter of diagnosis and accommodation recommendation from a licensed provider (i.e. Physician, Therapist).
Documentation must include:

Current and up-to-date
Gives recommendation for the accommodation/s needed.
Provides length of time accommodation/s are needed.

Please see the OARS Documentation Guidelines for additional details. Bethel Health Services may provide documentation only for students who have sustained concussions.
Upon the completed application and sufficient documentation, students will be scheduled to meet with an Accessibility Specialist. During this meeting, the student and the Accessibility Specialist will discuss the diagnosis, its impact on learning, reasonable accommodations that fit the students needs and discuss the student’s roles and responsibilities in the accommodations process. Our staff strives to meet with students within 5-7 business days of receiving the completed registration documents.
Documentation can be uploaded into the OARS application, emailed to oars@bethel.edu, faxed to 651.638.6307 or brought to the OARS office (RC200). NOTE: All documentation provided to OARS is secure and will only be shared on a need-to-know basis in order to effectively facilitate accommodations. In addition, a student may choose to self disclose a diagnosis/disability with staff/faculty as they choose.
